INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY! In honor of UNESCO's efforts to promote literacy as a human right, all books will be donated to the Orange County Early Literacy Program and Better World Books! :) |
The theme of International Literacy Day 2012 is Literacy and Peace.
This theme was adopted by the United Nations Literacy Decade (UNLD) to demonstrate the value that literacy brings to people. |

Cards and posters are given to:
- Olive Crest Child and Family Services (to bring hope and inspiration to children who have suffered child abuse and/or neglect;
- My Stuff Bags Foundation (to add a personal touch to the new belongings to children are rescued from abuse, neglect and abandonment);
- Miller Children's Hospital in Long Beach and Children's Hospital of Orange County (to brighten hospital rooms to help aid children in their healing process); and the
- Special Olympics athletes (to give them lots of encouragement while they train).
